Leave it to me to leave this Hallotober tag to the last day of October. Trust me, I was already brainstorming names if I didn’t get to this until November. “Hallotober-ember” and “Hallo From The Other Side” were my best ideas.

Thank you for tagging me in this, Bill! I got a bit wordy with my answers.

1. What is your favourite thing about October?

Honestly, it’s the fact that the NHL and NBA are starting up, while the MLB postseason is going on, and the NFL is taking over Sundays. Obviously, things are a bit different this year, but let’s not talk about this year. Ever.

Also, the leaves changing colours is cool.

2. Are you a big celebrator of Halloween?

Definitely not.

3. What’s your favourite horror movie?

Probably Halloween or The Shining (seen it once).

4. Would you rather a cozy night in watching horrors or a big night out in a costume?

Alright, so in 2009, Halloween also fell on a Saturday. I remember this because I was in First Year of university and a couple of my friends tried to get me to go to the Halloween party at the campus bar. I had no interest in going, and not just because there was a hockey game on that night…though I used that as one of my many excuses.

They said, “The game will be on at the bar. You can watch it there.”

No. Not with a room full of people, dancing in costumes. That is no way to watch a hockey game.

So, the answer to this question is, I’d rather stay home and watching horror movies, or whatever else is on TV.

5. Which has been your most favourite costume to date?

Uh, sports fan?

I was Barney when I was 3 and looked adorable, so let’s go with that.

6. Bobbing for apples or pin the hat on the witch?

I’ve actually bobbed for apples before. It was apart of an obstacle course at camp. Another counsellor was also bobbing for an apple in the same bucket/barrel as me. The lack of sanitation was not lost upon me, and I hated every second of it, but it was a different world.

I remember not being able to grab the apple with my mouth and using my hands to get it. I was too concerned with all the water going up my nose and in my eyes, as I tried not to drown.

I’ve never heard of “Pin the hat on the witch” but that sounds better.

7. How do you celebrate Halloween?

By scrolling through Instagram.

8. What’s your least favourite horror?

I feel like there’s a word missing at the end of this question, or maybe I just don’t understand it.

I enjoy horror movies. I find a way to laugh at what’s going on.

9. Do you have a favourite trick-or-treating memory?

I dressed up as Scream one year because it was easy and didn’t require effort. I didn’t wear the mask, just the smelly black fabric over my jacket. I had no idea what Scream was. Anyway, I went to one house and the person was like, “I guess kids don’t have to wear costumes anymore. They just come for the candy.”

I honestly think they thought “my costume” was my jacket. Maybe if they had better lighting on their porch…

For the record, I enjoyed the act of going house to house, more than I enjoyed eating the candy. So, joke’s on them.

10. What’s your favourite thing about Halloween?

The movies. Shoutout to Halloweentown. Click the link to read my Viewing Notes of Halloweentown from 2016.

11. Scary costume or silly costume?

Silly costume.

12. What’s your favourite Halloween candy?

Aero bar and Smarties. For any Americans reading this, Canadian Smarties are not the same as American Smarties. Our Smarties are like M&Ms, but wider. What you call Smarties, we call Rockets.

The rule with this tag is to replace #13 with your own question, for the people you tagged to answer. Bill asked a question, but I also like the one he had to answer, so I’ll answer both.

13. What’s the Halloween candy you always traded away as a kid?

I gave everything away except for chips, Aero bars, Smarties, and Jersey Milks.

I tried my first Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup this year. I wasn’t a fan.

13A. Do you believe in ghosts?

Casper and Moaning Myrtle.

I’m not nominating anyone for this because I don’t know who’s been nominated already. If you’d like to answer the questions, feel free to do so below in the comments, or in your own post!
