Ready to go
here’s my ticket to the show
put the pen down and start to turn
only so much ink to burn
making my stomach churn
but I don’t need a nurse
it’s my life lived in reverse
three plus three is thirty-three
don’t you see
clinging to me
not they
always something different to say
anything to break away from the norm
waiting on the next storm
one contradiction at a time
making sure my words rhyme
and forcing a locked mind
to be so kind
and open its heart
like a check-out at K-Mart
now I’m rollin’
turning never into forever
just strollin’
knowing sunny days are not the sign for me
and neither is the show Glee
too perfect and cliche
tailor-made for they
which is how I knew
when the raindrops came into view
I was on the right path
didn’t even need math to know
to follow the glow
a former never
further away than ever
with a seatbelt holding the past
the storm told me this was first and last
stumbling into another day
has always been the way
perfectly imperfect
mapping out the district
burning every image in my mind
one of a kind
good and great are never late
running on their own time
landing on tails at the flip of a dime
it was no surprise
forget the disguise
I could see straight ahead
this is where I was led
and the poor weather was never better
it’s always been the table setter
so I sat down without a frown
knowing there was no chance I would ever drown.

About Paul

I think of my blog as an all-you-can-read buffet. There's something for everyone and complimentary mints at the door as you leave.

I have to admit, I love your poetry ALMOST as much as I love Paulo and his uh, (mis)adventures.
