Words

Where words go
someone must
know
and the
show must
go
as is
with a piece
missing
and the ease
of everything
on vacation
as letters
limp into place
and face
a space
leading to
words that no
longer travel
in herds
and sentences
that lost
and may never
find that
one little
thing that
made them
so accurate
and
so real
and
so very
complete.

Funny how I was just listening to ‘words’ by Boyzone. (Don’t judge.)

I like Palu the poet. Though Paulo was better.

I broke into a smile halfway through reading this (aloud of course, as poetry is meant to be read) because of the meter. You sort of stumble a little bit in an interesting way. My best 30 second English major analysis is that this poem describes the feeling of a writer who always knows where they’re getting at, or eventually finds out while writing, but towards the ending the tone shifts towards words that cannot be reached. I’ve got to mull it over some more.
