Neato 2.0

Well kids, I think I’ve hit my “neato” quota for my lifetime. I haven’t used, or heard, the word in years and now it’s in the title of back-to-back blog posts.

For the second time in as many days I’ve been nominated for the Real Neat Blog award. This time by Barb at Saneteachers. She’s one of the kindest bloggers on WordPress, always boosts my ego, and isn’t afraid to debate important things like the Oxford comma and the “uselessness” in putting a “u” in the word favourite.

If you stopped reading my blog right now and checked hers out and gave her a follow, I wouldn’t hold it against you.

Again, here are the rules for this award:

Put the Award Logo on your blog
Answer seven questions by the person who nominated you
Thank the person who nominated you, linking to their blog
Nominate any number of blogs for the award, linking to their blog
Let them know that you nominated them for the award

Now then, when I did this post yesterday, I broke the rules. I didn’t nominate anyone. Instead, I asked 7 questions and hoped people would answer them in the comments. That didn’t happen outside of one person.

So this time I’ll nominate people. But first, I have to answer Barb’s seven questions.

1. If you were alone on a deserted island with only one book, which would it be?

Definitely a survival guide of some sort. One that tells me how to survive and treat myself to gourmet desert island meals. Any other book would just be for leisure.

2. What is your favorite color and why?

My favourite colour is blue. I don’t know why, really. It’s not a loud colour and it’s not a dull colour; it’s blue. I guess me and blue just have things in common. A connection, if you will. Also, my sports uniforms when I was a kid were blue for 4 out of the 5 years I played.

3. I like favorites (favourites for the Canadian above) so what is your favorite song?

I’m going to go with an unexpected one and say: Where The Streets Have No Name by u2. I haven’t listened to it in awhile though. Closer To The Edge by 30 Seconds To Mars is a close second, if not tied for first.

4. If you could make a memory, what would it be?

I would be a professional baseball player and hit the game winning home run to win the World Series. Or I’d be a hockey player and score the winning goal and win the Stanley Cup. Or there would be a Dairy Queen open up across from my house so I can have a chocolate sundae whenever I want. Either of those three would be fine with me.

5. If you could join a TV show (present or past) and be a new character on that show, which one would you choose?

Teletubbies. Just kidding. Good question. I would say Seinfeld. My sense of humour matches up perfectly with that show.

6. What’s your ringtone?

Plot twist! I have my phone on silent so I don’t hear it if it rings. It never rings. No one calls me. The only people that call me are scams that say I won a trip around the world, or phone numbers where no one is on the other end. I’ve given up on answering my phone, unless I recognize the number on call display. If I did have a ring tone, it would just be a normal ring. Not a song or anything like that.

7. Where were you born?

In a hospital outside of Toronto, Canada, Eh.

Now to nominate some people. If you choose not to participate, that’s fine.

Jenna Rambles – She’s been a loyal follower/friend since the early days of this blog.

In My Cluttered Attic – Of course I must nominate another blogger named Paul. He has a really funny blog too.

Full Circle – Gotta get another kind Canadian on here! Check out her blog!

Yellow.Fever. – I’ve only been following Mindy’s blog for a week and it’s quickly becoming one of my favourites. She’s hilarious.

Moxie Luster – Major thanks for being the only one to answer my 7 questions in my last blog post. She’s new to WordPress and has posted some great photos in the past few days. Check it out!

For The Love Of Sass – Shaz speaks her mind like few bloggers can. She was also around for the early days of this blog.

Seven Questions:

1. What was the first job you ever had?

2. Which do you prefer: breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

3. If you had $100 in your pocket, what would you spend it on?

4. Fries or onion rings?

5. What was your favourite movie as a child?

6. How fast can you say the alphabet backwards?

7. When was the last time you flew a kite?

Thank you for the major props! Or do you write “proups?” So much to comment on. First of all, only an idiot American would write the two words “favorite” and “color” next to each other knowing a Canadian is going to read it. Secondly (now that I’ve stopped berating myself), your answer to the first question about the survival book made me laugh out loud. Thirdly, I 2 am a big U 2 fan as U R 2. R2D2 . Sorry, I got carried away. #5 also made me laugh out loud. I would chose Numb3ers. I love that show and I’d be the wacky agent running around getting everyone to spit out their gum and use correct grammar.
Thank you for participating. This was fun. And I’m checking out the blogs you’ve nominated. 😆

We write proups, thank you. A survival book is smart isn’t it! As for U2, I think I only like 3-4 of their songs, but you can call me a fan!

You do seem to have a soupçon of fanaticism about you. And I want to hear the recognition of the nod in your reply to your French Canadian brothers

Sorry, had to look up with soupçon meant haha. “Nods”. You know me well, especially the fact that I try to pretend that I’m amazing at french. Merci beaucoup!

I tried to spell nods “nouds” to keep up the “u” thing, but it kept autocorrecting. I then added it to my dictionary which was a huge mistake. Not that I use the word nod that often.

Don’t worry, now every time you type noud, people will read it with a British accent

      • Barb Knowles says:

You don’t actually spell it that way, right? No, no, no you can’t. Or it would be a Canadian accent. Which we consider every single word to sound the same as ours (I’m from the north) except “aboot.” Why is ONE word different? I know that I’m exposing my ignorance, but you better write that blog post soon or I’m buying a book on Canadian orthography and linguistics. For real.

haha I’ll have to do some brainstorming for that blog post. Also, I’ve never heard a Canadian say “aboot” ever in my life.

    • OMG, Paul was right – You’re hilarious! I’ve already followed you. And oh, Oxford commas – if you don’t, you can’t be my friend. 😀
