SOTW #7 – I Dare You

This week’s song of the week is one that I first heard seven years ago on American Idol. It is now one of my favourite songs.

It is called “I Dare You” by a band named Shinedown.

I attached a live version of the song because they don’t have an official music video and because I think live performances tell you two things:

1. Who has talent and is actually good on their own, without a studio making them sound enhancing their sound.

2. Who uses lip-syncing as a crutch.

Well, it appears to me that there is a bit of both in this video. The chorus seems lip-synced, but the rest does not.

I encourage you to listen to the song and read through the lyrics below.

Enjoy!

Lyrics:

Hello, let me introduce you to
The characters in the show
One says yes, one says no
Decide – which voice in your head you can keep alive

Even in madness, I know you still believe
Paint me on canvas so I become
What you could never be

I dare you to tell me to walk through fire
Wear my soul and call me a liar
I dare you to tell me to walk through fire
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to

Hello, are you still chasing
The memories in shadows
Some stay young, some grow old
Come alive, there are thoughts unclear
You can never hide

Even in madness, I know you still believe
Paint me on canvas so I become
What you could never be

I dare you to tell me to walk through fire
Wear my soul and call me a liar
I dare you to tell me to walk through fire
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to

Hello
Hello…
I dare you to tell me to walk through fire
Wear my soul and call me a liar
I dare you to tell me to walk through fire
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to
Hello…
Hello…
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to

About Paul

This is the part where I'm supposed to write something interesting about myself and you'll read it and think, "That's not that interesting." So let's not do that and just think about pizza instead, on the count of three. One, two, three. Donuts. Now, wasn't that interesting?
